Challenge

The facility’s digital signage only played pre-made videos on a loop and could not answer visitors’ questions.

Keeping guides on hand at all times was difficult, and visitors sometimes got lost away from the information desk. Maintaining the quality of guidance with limited staff was a challenge.

Adoption

The facility chose avacast, an AI avatar API, because a real-time conversational avatar can be built into digital signage. Support for many languages, including Japanese, English and Chinese, was another reason.

An avatar was built into the signage screen and set up to talk about the facility.

Results and current use

The avatar greets visitors, answers their questions and guides them around the facility. Visitors can now get the information they need even where no guide is present.

Different avatars are used depending on the content and location of the guidance.

The facility plans to extend its use to multilingual guidance for visitors from overseas.
