Challenge
Guards using the security-guard operations SaaS sign in from their phones every day to report clock-ins and check schedules.
Requests to reset forgotten passwords were frequent, and reusing easy-to-remember passwords was common. The challenge was to reduce the burden on users while making sign-in more secure.
Adoption
The company chose SealGate, a passkey authentication platform, because passkeys could be added without rebuilding the existing sign-in screen.
The sign-in screen was kept as it was, and passkeys were added with the SealGate browser SDK and a server-side relay. During the transition, passwords remain available so users can move to passkeys in turn.
Results and current use
Guards now sign in with their device’s biometrics and no longer need to remember a password, making daily use easier.
Passkeys are bound to the device and cannot be reused, so sign-in is also more secure.
The company plans to continue moving users over to passkeys.
