Challenge
A security-guard operations SaaS must output many documents: job slips from the field and forms that the Security Services Act requires offices to keep, such as the guard roster and training records.
Developing output code for each form means development work every time a form is added or changed. With so many statutory forms, maintaining the output code was a burden on development.
Adoption
The company chose DocRelay, a document generation engine, because forms are managed as templates and PDFs and CSVs are issued simply by passing data to the API.
The forms were created as DocRelay templates, checked in the test environment and then switched to production. The service only passes the data through the API.
Results and current use
Job-slip PDFs and more than 20 kinds of statutory forms are issued from DocRelay. Changing a form means updating its template, with no development needed on the service side.
Checking in the test environment before going to production lets form changes proceed safely.
The company plans to keep adding forms as templates as needed.
